JUNKPDX PICKUP GUIDE

Large furniture pickup: what JunkPDX needs to know.

A picture of the couch is a good start. The location, loading route and other items in the pickup help the company understand the complete job.

Describe the item and where it is

Tell the company whether you have a couch, sectional, bed frame, dresser or several pieces. Include the item’s current location and any parts stored separately. For a sectional, show all the sections rather than one seat. For a bed, distinguish the frame from a mattress and other pieces. This makes the pickup description more useful than a general request to remove furniture and helps avoid leaving out something you expected to include.

Show the route out of the property

Mention the floor, stairs, narrow doorways and tight corners between the furniture and the loading area. Photos of the route can explain access better than the furniture alone. Say whether the building has an elevator and whether it can be used for this pickup. Do not move a heavy item outside simply to make the quote easier. The crew can assess its current position and discuss the work needed.

Tell the crew about unusual construction

If an item has a sleeper mechanism, unusually heavy sections or parts that need special handling, mention them. If it may need disassembly to reach the loading area, ask the company to review that detail rather than assuming it is already covered. Describe what you know and show it in photos. The complete scope and any applicable charges should be confirmed before you approve removal.

Include the rest of the pickup

If the furniture is part of a larger pile, show everything going with it. A single furniture photo does not describe bags, boxes or items elsewhere in the home. JunkPDX prices ordinary household pickups primarily around truck space, with access and other job details affecting the complete estimate. The final price is confirmed on-site. Explain any additions before the crew begins so the approved quote matches the actual job.

Agree on what goes before loading

At the visit, point out the furniture to be removed and anything nearby that stays. Keep personal items out of drawers or compartments you are including in the pickup. Review the free, no-obligation estimate and decide whether to approve. Same-visit haul-away can follow approval, subject to the job and availability. Current scheduling and company service details are on the official JunkPDX website.
