JUNKPDX PICKUP GUIDE

Estate cleanout sorting before a JunkPDX estimate.

An estate cleanout often involves more than deciding what fits in a truck. Agree on what should stay and who will approve removal before scheduling the crew.

Separate decisions from removal

Give yourself time to identify personal documents, family photos and belongings people want to keep. Set those aside before the pickup walkthrough. If several people are involved, agree on the remove-and-keep decisions before the crew arrives. Junk removal is the loading and removal stage of the job. It works better when the decisions about ownership, sentimental items and what stays have already been handled by the people responsible for the property.

Define each room and storage area

Make a list of the rooms included and note items in closets, the garage, shed or outdoor areas. Photos of each area help explain the scope better than a single picture of the front room. Be clear about furniture that should remain in place. If the project will happen in phases, explain which phase you want quoted now. The crew needs to know whether the estimate is for selected items or a larger property cleanout.

Choose a person for the walkthrough

Arrange for someone who knows the removal list and can approve the work to be available. They should be able to answer questions about unclear items and review the price. Share access instructions, parking details and a contact number in the booking. If no one can be there, ask the company about arrangements in advance; do not assume photographs alone settle every decision. A clear contact helps avoid starting a job with conflicting instructions.

Plan around the property’s timeline

Tell the company about a move-out, sale preparation or other date affecting the cleanout. A large job may need more planning than a few-item pickup. Check the actual calendar rather than assuming an entire house can be cleared in the length of an arrival window. The two-hour window is an arrival range. Describe the amount and access first so the company can review what the project requires.

Approve the estimate before loading

JunkPDX offers a free, no-obligation on-site estimate. Review the included areas, items and confirmed price before removal begins. If the scope changes, make that clear before approving the work. Haul-away can happen during the same visit if approved, subject to the job and availability. The booking calendar starts the company’s estimate process; it does not replace sorting decisions or mean a final cleanout price has already been accepted.
