JUNK REMOVAL GUIDE

How to prepare for your JunkPDX pickup.

A little preparation makes it easier to get an accurate estimate and a smooth pickup. You do not need to move everything outside before asking the crew to review the job.

Make a clear remove-and-keep list

Walk through the space and decide what you want removed. Keep personal papers, keys and items you are keeping away from the removal pile. If several people are making decisions for a property, agree on the list before the crew arrives. Use labels or a walkthrough to identify anything easy to confuse. For a multi-room cleanout, explain which rooms are included instead of describing the appointment as a single pile.

Show the whole pickup in photos

Take a wide photo of each pile and separate pictures of large or unusual items. A single close-up can hide how much is behind it. If items are spread across the garage, upstairs and outside, say so. Photos help the company understand the job, but they do not replace the final on-site estimate. Tell the crew about anything added since the original description so the approved scope stays accurate.

Explain how the crew will reach the items

Mention stairs, narrow passages, parking restrictions and locked access. For an apartment or managed property, check the building’s access arrangements ahead of the visit and share relevant instructions. Do not assume a loading area will be available without checking. You can leave larger items in place for the crew to assess. Avoid moving something heavy just to make a photo or attempting disassembly you are not comfortable doing.

Identify unusual materials before the appointment

Describe heavy objects, appliances and construction debris separately from everyday household items. If you are unsure what a container holds or whether an item can be accepted, ask the company before the visit. Do not mix unidentified materials into bags of ordinary clutter. The useful booking detail is a truthful description of what is there, rather than an assumption that every material is handled the same way.

Be ready to review the estimate

Arrange for someone who can identify the items and approve the work to be available. Review what goes, what stays and the confirmed price before removal begins. The estimate is free and carries no obligation to approve removal. If you approve, haul-away can happen during the same visit, subject to the job and availability. Keep the booking confirmation handy for updates and arrival details, and use the official company calendar for available windows.
