JUNKPDX CLEANOUT GUIDE

Planning a shed contents cleanout with JunkPDX.

Clearing stored items out of a shed is a different scope from taking down the shed. Describe the contents and access so the company can review the job you actually need.

Start with the contents

List the furniture, boxes, tools or other stored items you want removed. Photograph the inside from more than one angle if the front row hides the rest. Set aside anything you are keeping or identify it clearly during the walkthrough. If the pickup also includes items outside the shed, describe those separately. The goal is a complete contents list rather than a request to clear a shed that leaves the amount and type of items unclear.

Keep the structure scope clear

Say explicitly whether you want stored contents removed or are asking about dismantling a structure. Those are different jobs. A contents estimate should not be understood as approval to take apart walls, flooring or roofing. If your project includes dismantling, ask the company to review that work separately before scheduling around it. Explain what you need and let the company confirm the scope it can offer, rather than assuming every outdoor cleanout includes demolition.

Show the route to the loading area

Describe gates, narrow paths, soft ground, slopes and the distance from the shed to vehicle access. Useful photos show the route as well as the pile. Tell the company if a gate is locked or needs someone present to open it. Do not attempt to carry awkward or heavy objects out to improve the picture. The crew can assess the existing location and discuss the loading work as part of the estimate.

Identify materials you are unsure about

Older storage areas can contain containers with unclear contents, heavy equipment or debris that differs from ordinary household clutter. Describe those items before the visit and ask the company about acceptance. Do not hide unknown materials in bags of general junk. An accurate description helps the crew review handling and any applicable charges before approval. The estimate should reflect the actual job, including anything a wide photo does not show.

Approve the defined contents pickup

Walk through what goes and what stays with the crew. JunkPDX provides a free, no-obligation on-site estimate and confirms the price before removal begins. If you approve, haul-away can happen during the same visit, subject to the job and availability. Make sure the agreed scope identifies the contents and any outdoor items included.
