JUNKPDX PICKUP GUIDE

Planning a storage unit cleanout with JunkPDX.

A storage unit adds a few access details to an ordinary pickup. Confirm the facility arrangements and decide what to keep before asking the crew to review the removal.

Check how the crew will reach the unit

Give the company the facility address, unit location and floor. Explain whether the unit is drive-up or reached through an indoor hallway. Tell the crew about elevators, gates, loading areas and any facility procedure relevant to the visit. Check those arrangements with the facility rather than assuming the company appointment reserves access. Share private access details through the company’s booking process, where they belong with the pickup information.

Identify what is staying first

Separate boxes or furniture you plan to keep from the contents being removed. If everything is stacked together, a simple label and a walkthrough are more useful than expecting the crew to recognize valuable items. Check personal papers and small belongings before including closed containers in a removal pile. Decide who will make the final decisions at the unit, particularly if the contents belong to more than one person.

Show depth as well as floor space

Take photos that show the full contents, including what is behind the front row. Describe large furniture and any areas hidden in the pictures. A unit’s advertised floor dimensions do not establish how much truck space the contents will take. Packing height, item shapes and how everything loads all affect that assessment. The company can use photos for planning, while the final removal price is confirmed on-site.

Allow time for a proper walkthrough

Arrange for a person who can identify the items and approve the estimate to be available. Tell the company about facility opening hours and any date by which the unit must be cleared. Check the company calendar before relying on a particular day. The arrival window is an arrival range, so describe the complete cleanout if you have a deadline that depends on the job being finished.

Approve the included items and price

Review the whole pickup with the crew before loading starts. JunkPDX’s estimate is free and has no obligation to accept removal. If you approve the confirmed price, haul-away can happen during that visit, subject to the job and availability. If you decide to keep more items or add another area, make that clear before approving the scope. Use the JunkPDX website for company coverage and current scheduling.
